If the universal 10W amp is no longer available due to PA transistor availability, how about offering a kit without the transistors for our experimentation ? Sure would like to build up something like that.

Re: RF (HF) Amplifier 5 Watts CW / 10 Watts SSB

Ok ... with some mods I have installed 2 RD16HHF1 in the finals and a RD06HHF in the driver .... on 160m im getting 22w and 10m is hitting 8w ...

I took out the coil in the final section negative feedback network ... im wondering if it should still be in there ....

Well ... made no difference ....

Wish it was more flat but guess you can't get 500$ performance from 30$ if parts ... so its doing well considering ...

Mike...you have a schematic of your mods?  I can publish them with a link here.

BD139-16 replacement for 2SC5739

http://kitsandparts.com will be stocking the BD139 transistor and will be available for shipping on Nov 30 2011.
We will be using this transistor in future 5 watt class C amplifiers.

Sure ... was not to hard ... maybe you could try it and verrify that its not the amp dropping off on power ... my scope has taken a dive and needs repair, can't check voltages yet.

Re: RF (HF) Amplifier 5 Watts CW / 10 Watts SSB

Still need to fix the Tektronix 2336YA scope .... with the hardware I have UHFSDR I should be driving the amp kinda hard .... something isn't right, and its part of why I have not responded with my changes ....
